A well-socialized puppy leads to a well-socialized adult dog. Puppy socialization starts with the breeder and its crucial to your puppy's growth and development. We are dedicated to providing an environment in which your future family member will thrive. All puppies are born and raised in our home and are exposed to sounds, smells and sensory objects. They will be brought up around kids, other dogs and our Siamese cat, Arashi.
In addition to early neurological stimulation, we try to implement as much of "The Rule of 7's" as we can. THE RULE OF 7's
As published by Pat Schaap - Puppy Development: Another Piece Of The Puzzle By the time a puppy is seven weeks old, he/she should have: BEEN ON 7 DIFFERENT TYPE OF SURFACES (Carpet, concrete, wood, vinyl, grass, dirt, gravel, wood chips, etc.) PLAYED WITH 7 DIFFERENT TYPES OF OBJECTS (Big balls, small balls, soft fabric toys, fuzzy toys, squeaky toys, paper or cardboard items, metal items, sticks, etc.) BEEN IN 7 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS (Front yard, back yard, basement, kitchen, car, garage, laundry room, bathroom, crate, etc.) MET AND PLAYED WITH 7 NEW PEOPLE (Children, older adults, someone with a cane or walking stick, someone in a wheelchair or walker, etc.) BEEN EXPOSED TO 7 CHALLENGES (Climb on a box, climb off a box, go through a tunnel, climb steps, go down steps, climb over obstacles, play hide and seek, go in and out of a doorway, run around a fence, etc.) EATEN FROM 7 DIFFERENT CONTAINERS (Metal, plastic, cardboard, glass, China, pie plate, frying pan, etc.) EATEN IN 7 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS (Crate, yard, kitchen, basement, laundry room, living room, bathroom, etc.) |
